Happy first day of summer!
In my downtime this summer, I plan to amp up my reading game. The last few months have been a blur, and reading for pleasure took a backseat. Life starts getting in the way and all I want to do after a long day of working, cooking, working some more, and cleaning is to lie down and allow my brain to decompress with an hour or two of mindless reality TV. That’s all well & good some times, but I really feel like that time could be spent relaxing in a more productive way. Enter my Summer Reading List…
I already mentioned a few business books I purchased a few weeks back. In addition to those, I’ve decided to check out a few fiction books this Summer, as well. In my stash, I have The Fault In Our Stars, Gone Girl, You Should Have Known, Inferno, and Frog Music. They’re all loaded up on my Nook and ready to go!
I have no idea how long it will take me to get through these or if I’ll even be able to tackle them all, but as you know, I like goals, so I’ll give it a shot. I also want to encourage my daughter to read more. She just finished kindergarten and is so eager to learn and read on her own! It makes me really excited because I remember being her age and wanting to know what every street sign, every headline on supermarket tabloids, and every piece of mail said. She’s the exact same way, so I thought it would be cool for us to start our own little book club this year. We’ll each check out the same book from the library, set a side some time to read to each other, and discuss the stories. It might sound a bit cheesy, but these are the types of things lasting memories are made of, and I’m all for that.
Are you reading any good books this Summer?
