New Years resolutions are often about setting new goals, establishing better habits, and the like. However, I don’t typically set New Years resolutions, primarily because I feel that tying a new goal/habit to a specified timeline is a recipe for disaster, at least for me. That almost guarantees I won’t make it happen. Instead, I set them whenever the need arises in life.
But this year, I’ve had a change of heart, sort of. I want to take this new year and make it the mark or beginning of something new for myself. While that may not be a new goal or number to hit, it is a resolution to adopt a new perspective on the life i already live.
My Personal Goals For This New Year
Back on Thanksgiving, I began reflecting on the things I’ve accomplished in life. I began thinking about how I love to challenge myself and how I’ve actually done some things I consider pretty amazing. I really want to get back to that. So my theme, quest, resolution (if you will) for this year is to amaze myself, to look at my world differently, to set my personal perspective or view on the things that excite me most. I want to feel that sense of accomplishment and self pride more often.
It’s a very self-centered pursuit, indeed, but isn’t that what resolutions are anyway? A wholly self centered and self focused pursuit. Yes. Do I sometimes go a bit overboard in challenging myself? Yes. Will I have to remind myself that the needs of my family & children might sometimes come before mine? Yes. Will I get totally sucked into, absorbed by, and minimally obsessed over goals sometimes? Yes. Will tackling these challenges be ridiculously fulfilling in ways I haven’t been inspired lately? Yes. Will it all be totally worth it when I look back over my life in 5-10 years? No doubt about it, yes!
I could go on and on with the questions, so I’ll stop there for now. But I say all that to say, everything points to yes! And the things that may point to no are riddled with self-doubt and lack of faith, which is not at all who I am in the least bit, nor is it who I encourage my children to be, so it has no place in my life.
So my personal theme for this year is to AMAZE YOURSELF!
My Goals for Martin-Made
Swinging it back around to Martin-Made TV, in 2019 we are going to be focusing on all those things that can help with our outlook on the life we live everyday. That means in addition to focusing on our homes and making them really pretty, we’ll also be delving into the world of organization and productivity. While pursuing a new outlook or view on life, these 3 areas are key – and pursuing a new view on the lives we already live helps to uncover the best of ourselves.
Making your house the home you love is all about setting up your space to be the most relaxing, inviting, and comforting reflection of you possible. So with this new year upon us, let’s create a new view along with it. Is there a space that is screaming for a makeover? Is there a space that makes you the happiest at home? If not, let’s create one!
What good is a pretty home if it doesn’t function best for us? We open the junk drawer and everything is mess of confusion. I know we all have one of those! So we’ll be focusing on exploring simple, yet effective ways to organize our lives fully.
What good is a pretty, well-organized home if our lives are an utter mess because we are not using our time & resources effectively. This is where the ‘Productivity’ quest comes in. I want to focus on using our time wisely and on making the most of the talents and gifts we naturally have.
I want to challenge you for 2019, in this new year, to take on a new view in all facets of life. That’s why I will be sharing a few series on these 3 important topics and I’m excited to get started! Please consider subscribing to the blog and subscribing to the YouTube channel, as well, so you don’t miss a thing.
